Avoid Sun Damage on Your Vehicle

Going out in the summer sun can be quite uncomfortable and can cause damage to your skin if it's not adequately protected. Your car can suffer from similar exterior damage if it is constantly exposed to the sun without proper protection. Synthetics Northwest in Salem can help you keep your car properly protected and ready to take on the sun.

How Can the Sun Affect Your Car?

The sun's rays can cause damage to multiple parts of your vehicle. Direct exposure to the sun can cause your paint to fade faster and can even cause oxidation. The rubber parts of your car can also suffer under the sun. Your tires can begin to crack and split because of sun exposure. Other rubber parts, such as windshield wipers, can also crack and stop working properly. Your interiors can also be affected by the sun. Leather seats and elements, such as your dashboard, can begin to crack due to sun exposure. Check your fluids and your battery because these can be run down due to the heat.

Protect Your Interiors

It's always a good idea to park in shady areas in order to avoid issues caused by sun exposure. Since this isn't always a possibility, make sure your car is equipped with proper protection. If you have leather seats, use a leather conditioner regularly to avoid the damage that can be caused by the sun. Seat covers are also a great way to create a barrier between the sun and your seats. Remember to use a sun protector in your windshield to block the sun's rays from entering your car.

Protect Your Exteriors

To protect your paint, make sure to wash and dry your car regularly. Getting rid of the grime that builds up is a great way to protect your paint from scratches and other tough deposits. Waxing your car will also help create a layer of protection between your paint and the elements. Make sure you check your tire pressure regularly since the summer heat can affect it. Remember that overinflated tires and under inflated tires can be wasteful and dangerous.
